Bali, Indonesia, October 6 (Du Shangze and Liu Hui, People’s Daily)—Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Central Committee, met with Vincent Siew, honorary chairman of Taiwan Cross-Strait Common Market Foundation, and his delegation in Bali, Indonesia on the morning of October 6.

Xi Jinping stressed that the two sides across the Taiwan Strait must adhere to the correct path of peaceful development, advocate the value of “one family across the Taiwan Strait,” strengthen communications and cooperation, and jointly promote the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
习近平强调，两岸双方应该坚持走两岸关系和平发展的正确道路，倡导“两岸一家亲”的理念，加强交流合作，共同促进中华民族伟大复兴。
He stressed the need to cherish historical opportunities and maintain the positive momentum of peaceful development of cross-Strait relations. People on both sides of the Taiwan Strait expect more progress in cross-Strait relations. Therefore, we must listen to the people, seize opportunities, and push cross-Strait relations towards new achievements.
习近平强调，要珍惜历史机遇，保持两岸关系和平发展良好势头。两岸民众都希望两岸关系取得更大进展。双方应该顺应民心、抓住机遇，促进两岸关系发展取得新成果。
Xi Jinping pointed out that the key to ensuring the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations is to enhance political trust and create a solid foundation for common political basis. Focusing on the long-term perspective, the longstanding political differences between the two sides of the Strait must be resolved one step at a time. We cannot continue passing these problems down from one generation to the next. We have repeatedly expressed our willingness to conduct equal consultations with the Taiwan side on cross-Strait political issues within the one-China framework and make reasonable and sensible arrangements. The heads of relevant departments of both sides may meet and exchange views on matters that need to be tackled in cross-Strait relations as well.
习近平指出，增进两岸政治互信，夯实共同政治基础，是确保两岸关系和平发展的关键。着眼长远，两岸长期存在的政治分歧问题终归要逐步解决，总不能将这些问题一代一代传下去。我们已经多次表示，愿意在一个中国框架内就两岸政治问题同台湾方面进行平等协商，作出合情合理安排。对两岸关系中需要处理的事务，双方主管部门负责人也可以见面交换意见。
Talking about cross-Strait economic cooperation, Xi stressed that the economies of both sides belong to the same Chinese national economy. Given the new situation of economic development in the Asia-Pacific region, we must strengthen cooperation to better confront the challenges. We should strengthen the institutionalization of cross-Strait economic cooperation and focus more on promoting industrial cooperation.
在谈到两岸经济合作时，习近平强调，两岸经济同属中华民族经济，在亚太地区经济发展新形势下，双方只有加强合作，才能更好应对挑战。要加强两岸经济合作制度化建设，并更加重视促进产业合作。
Vincent Siew expressed that the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations in the past five years has yielded many achievements, the most important of which is the establishment of the “1992 Consensus” as the basis for institutionalized cross-Strait consultations. It also is the core of continued cross-Strait interactions and communications. In the face of new challenges in the global economy, both sides of the Taiwan Strait need to expand and deepen institutionalized economic and trade cooperation, and promote the sustainable development of cross-Strait relations.
萧万长表示，过去５年两岸关系和平发展取得诸多成果，最重要的是确立了“九二共识”作为两岸制度化协商的基础，这也是两岸持续交流互动的核心。面对全球经济新挑战，两岸应扩大深化经贸制度化合作，推动两岸关系持续发展。
